THURSDAY, April 17, 2008: MORNING

Recent observations highlight the dynamic nature of icy objects in the outer solar system. The surface geology and compositional spectra of objects such as Enceladus, Titan, Europa, Hyperion, Ceres, or Kuiper-Belt Objects hint at diverse subsurface chemical, physical, and possibly biological processes. Of particular interest to the study of astrobiology is the possibility for oceans and hydrothermal systems in these objects -- past, present, or future. In this session, we invite discussion of subsurface processes -- and means for detecting them -- in objects in the outer solar system.
